Admissions Process

At Reach Secondary School, our admission arrangements are determined by the school’s governing body, and in accordance with OFSTED requirements, we publish these arrangements on our website by 15 March each year. These details remain accessible throughout the offer year, which refers to the school year in which offers for places are made.

How We Consider Applications

Our admission arrangements explain how we consider applications for each relevant age group, which corresponds to the age at which children are typically admitted to our school.

Application Process for Parents

Parents who wish to apply for their child to attend Reach Secondary School can find comprehensive guidance on our website, including application procedures and forms. We aim to make this process as clear and accessible as possible for all prospective students.

Over-subscription Criteria

As a non-selective school, we do not employ selective criteria for admission. In the event of more applicants than available places, our over-subscription criteria are used to determine the allocation of places fairly. Detailed information on this criteria is available on our website.

In-Year Applications

For in-year applications, we aim to provide a smooth process. If Reach Secondary School manages in-year applications, we provide an application form that enables parents to apply for an in-year place. If necessary, we also offer a supplementary information form. If we are part of the local authority’s in-year co-ordination scheme, we direct parents to the relevant scheme information.

Admission Appeals

To ensure a transparent and fair process, we publish a timetable for organizing and hearing admission appeals by 28 February each year. This timetable includes the following elements:

  • A deadline for lodging appeals that provides at least 20 school days for those making an appeal to prepare and lodge their written appeal.
  • Reasonable deadlines for those making an appeal to submit additional evidence, for admission authorities to submit their evidence, and for the clerk to send appeal papers to the panel and parties.
  • A commitment to providing those making an appeal with at least 10 school days’ notice of their appeal hearing.
  • A commitment to sending decision letters within 5 school days of the hearing, whenever possible.

At Reach Secondary School, we are dedicated to adhering to OFSTED’s guidelines to ensure a transparent, accessible, and fair admission process for all students and their families. For a more detailed understanding of our admission arrangements and related information, please visit our website. We look forward to welcoming your child into our school community.

Uniform Policy

At Reach Secondary School, we take great care to ensure that our uniform policy not only meets but exceeds the guidelines set by the Department of Education and OFSTED. We want our students to have a smart, consistent appearance while making it accessible and affordable for their families.

Uniform Requirements

All items in our uniform policy are mandatory, and they are carefully selected to be suitable for year-round wear. This approach not only ensures that our students look smart at all times but also promotes a strong sense of unity and belonging within our school community.

Accessibility and Clarity

We’ve made it a priority to keep the uniform accessible for all our students’ families. Uniform items are available from various local retailers, giving parents the flexibility to choose the option that suits them best, including second-hand items. We’re committed to keeping the costs reasonable.

Transparency in Our Uniform Policy

To provide clarity to our parents and students, we make it unequivocal that all items in our uniform policy are required. This means that there are no seasonal variations in our uniform; it’s designed for year-round wear. Additionally, we accept generic items, ensuring that families have cost-effective choices when obtaining their child’s uniform.
